Choosing a solar solution for your needs
Before choosing portable solar panels for your RV, it’s important to understand that it’s not the same as choosing a solar solution for a regular house. Since an RV isn’t hooked up to the electric grid of your country you can’t really sell back any of the excess solar energy you generate. This article from RVshare explains everything you need to know before choosing a solar kit for your RV.
Usually choosing a solar panel for an RV is all about choosing one that will supply just as much solar power as you need for daily use of appliances and no more. Any excess energy wouldn’t go to filling up your rv or trailer battery to over 100%, it would just be wasted potential.
A 130 watt solar panel can supply between 6.6 and 8.1 Amps on a sunny day. Let’s assume that the solar panels are charging a 100A/h battery. From the battery, you can easily charge your laptop, watch TV on a mid-sized LCD screen, and power your 47L Indel B fridge, without needing any other form of charge.
